This is exactly what I want to be able to do by the time I'm twenty-five: hunt, shoot, clean and cook game.  I think, in this day and age, those skills are 'obsolete', but if something were to happen those skills will become paramount to survival.

The Discovery and Conquest of Mexico

I am currently reading The Discovery And Conquest Of Mexico, and I must say, I am absolutely enthralled.  This book highlights Cortes' conquest of Mexico from the eyes of the average soldier.  This account is regarded as the most historically accurate account of the journey, as it is directly translated from Bernal Diaz' memoir of the mission.  Give it a read sometime.
